ProfileDerek has been in the events industry for over 23 yrs. Interest sparked early on while working at Disneyland in entertainment, and Knott’s Berry Farm in Park Décor. A chance meeting with the owner of It’s the Main Event led to the creation of Mirage Events in 97. After 3 yrs. with Mirage Events, Derek had his own company doing events locally and out of state. As fate would have it, while living in Ohio, Derek was out in Las Vegas doing work when an opportunity to work with MGM Mirage Events opened up. He has been with MGM Resorts Events for the past 11yrs. through many changes. Derek oversees the Logistics and Floral teams and interfaces with all events-related departments to insure the smooth, timely, and well-coordinated execution of installation and strike. Scheduling outside labor, managing timelines, overseeing training in rigging, inventory handling/packing, and vehicle & equipment operations are also among his responsibilities.
